National Entrepreneurship Day 2011

The sixth local edition of National Entrepreneurship Day was held in Ormstown on November 16, 2011. Organized by the Défi de l’entrepreneuriat jeunesse du gouvernement du Québec, National Entrepreneurship Day is an annual event that aims to demystify and emphasize the importance of the entrepreneurial culture in the development of our society.

As a part of this day, activities related to entrepreneurship occurred across all of Quebec through the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi organization. This year, for the Haut-Saint-Laurent region, the Haut-Saint-Laurent Youth Entrepreneurship Committee enabled close to 100 students in secondary schools Arthur Pigeon, CVR and H.S. Billings to experience a day of entrepreneurial activities!

By participating in different activities, students had the opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of entrepreneurs for a day and hear three testimonials from local entrepreneurs; Ms. Yannicke Himbeault of Café Namasthé, Ms. Louise Robinson of Louise Robinson Acupuncture Clinic and finally Mr. Nicolas Laporte of Construction Plan. A special thank you to the three entrepreneurs for taking the time to come and share their experiences.

In closing, it is important to note that this day would not take place without the collaboration of several partners and the generosity of sponsors: CLD du Haut-Saint-Laurent, CEDEC, École secondaire Arthur Pigeon, CVR high school, H.S. Billings high school, Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Huntingdon and Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Châteauguay, Friers Orchards, IGA Huntingdon, Grants Bakery and the municipality of Ormstown.
